Underground Utilities & Structures
Underground Utilities
The engNoveX team has the technical capabilities and experience to perform analysis and design of new and existing buried steel pipes made of carbon, stainless or alloy steel that are fabricated to ASTM or API material specifications and designed in accordance with the following codes:
ASME B31, pressure piping
ASME B31.1 power piping
ASME B31.3 process piping
ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code
The design challenges involved with the design of buried piping is that it is supported, confined and restrained continuously by the passive effects of the backfill and/or trench bedding, which impose a unique design challenge, especially under the effect of seismic induced stresses. The resistance of soil or backfill to pipe movement due to the bearing pressure at the pipe/soil interface depends on the soil engineering properties.
The engNoveX team has experience implementing the latest techniques for modeling the underground to capture behavior under different loading conditions and to assess the effect of the soil on the response of the pipe.
Underground Structures
In addition to various underground utilities, the engNoveX team also has experience in the analysis and design of underground structures, including tunnels and underground galleries for utilities.
